Baby Steps...


Do you remember the movie "What about Bob?" - I really don't - but I do remember the line from it which is all about Baby Steps...Baby Steps to the door, Baby Steps to the car...etc..etc..etc
I think I have my first "baby step" in the bag! I know that I am not even a quarter of the way done with this 17 week journey I am on with Flex Fitness, but I have to say that I am really proud of myself!
I started out lifting 2 1/2 or 5 pound weights MAX - I thought if I lifted more than that my arms would fall off - literally! =)
It has been 3 weeks now and I am lifting between 10 and 25 pounds...WHAT?!?!?! Yes, I am!!
I also started the eliptical machine 3 weeks ago with a resistance level of 1 - I didn't think it went any higher than that...3 weeks later - working my way up to level 8 - yeah me!!

The old Mandy would have been happy working out 6 days a week - lifting 5 pound weights and working out on level 1. What I have learned from the people at Flex is that challenging your body makes you stronger...it makes you better!! I carry around a 2 year old, 25 pound baby for goodness sake, surely I should be able to lift a 15 pound weight!

This road is a long one - I don't have any HUGE dramatic weight loss stories to tell you - but I do have the beginnings of a new me - not just in how I look, but in how I am able to challenge myself to do things I never thought I could do!

How's that for positive!!!! =)
